When high school students Darcy (played by Molly Ringwald) and Stan (played by Randall Batinkoff) fall hard for each other in teen love, they both wind up speed course in adulthood and parenting in this late 80s romantic comedy. Ringwald stars as a young and upcoming journalism student who can't seem to wait to have her name in print. Batinkoff's role has him hoping to land a scholarship to attend the prestigious Cal Tech University. Darcy and Stan find themselves on top of the world and in deeply love. Both their futures seem picture perfect, that is until one tiny thing throws them off just a bit, a bouncing new baby. This unexpected little bundle of joy is a big change of events and needless to say it does not sit well with both their respective parents.
The new grandparents to be on both sides just aren't quite ready to be to take on their new role. So Stan and Darcy so a split from their families by tying the knot and proceed to begin a new life on their own with their new baby. It's not long before the honeymoon is completely over, as diapers are in, and fun dates are all the way out. In the end, sharing sweet kisses beats doing dirty dishes as Darcy and Stan try to find out for themselves if the best love of all is For Keeps.
For Keeps 1988 DVD is a fun 80s RomCom and had Ringwald and Batinkoff both turning in fine performances.
