Based on actual events Delta Burke plays Laura Bancroft, a compulsive gambler, and Gerald McRaney plays her husband Jim Bancroft. In This Made For TV movie accurately depicts Laura's inch by inch deterioration of her life when she begins in what seems to be harmless entertainment gambling at the local casino. Laura then begins to borrow from the foundation that she works for and from her family. Eventually Laura even starts gambling with the grocery money.
Even when Laura wins, she inevitably loses, because she absolutely cannot stop gambling for any reason. Going For Broke DVD holds your interest and we cannot but feel bad and pity for Laura, Jim and their family. The TV movie accurately depicts the frustration Laura's family feels towards her as she digs herself in a deeper and deeper whole with her job, financially and her marriage. Laura even neglects her husband, career and her children to satisfy and feed her gambling addiction.
Going For Broke 2003 DVD is a brutally honest story and deals with the devastating consequences of a gambling addiction that is totally out of control. This is an extremely sad due to, as this movie opens up the reality that some people in our culture are experiencing this level of pain in their lives for the same reasons.
