Silkwood is the controversial and true story that inflamed this nation. Meryl Streep is terrific in this shocking adaptation of a true story about one woman's severe struggle against a huge corporation. Karen Silkwood
(played by Meryl Streep) lives a quite free and spirited life with her two best friends (played by Kurt Russell
and Cher) who also work with her at an Oklahoma nuclear power facility. It's only
when Karen discovers that she has been exposed to excessive amounts radiation that her conscience is awakened and soon Karen begins searching for evidence of cover ups and wrongdoing
within her company that she works for. Karen's sudden interest and cause for a safer working environment will no doubt come at a higher price then she could imagine, as she starts to alienates her friends and possibly even puts
her own life in mortal danger.
