Love,
betrayal, romance and scandal is all in a days work. Strangers When We
Meet features an huge cast including Kirk Douglas, Kim Novak, Ernie
Kovacs, Barbara Rush and Walter Matthau. Douglas is brilliantly cast as
the debonaire Larry Coe, a talented architect who is in an unhappy
marriage. Coe falls in love with his gorgeous neighbor Maggie, played by
Novak, whose marriage is also on not working out. The two meet
discreetly while Larry is at work building a dream home for the
eccentric writer and playboy Roger Altar, played fantastically by
Kovacs.
These secretive get togethers are known only to one
other person, their trusted mutual friend Felix Anders, played by the
great Walter Matthau. When Larry is offered a wonderful career
opportunity in the state of Hawaii, he becomes suddenly torn between his
house, career and love for Maggie. Felix then starts making advances at
Larry's spouse, played by Rush, the base of his whole life begins to
fall apart. The film is based upon Evan Hunter's novel by the same name
and is a fine film in the tradition of similar classics like Peyton
Place and No Down Payment. Douglas and Novak have amazing chemistry in Strangers When We Meet DVD. Douglas is terrific in Strangers When We Meet DVD.
Strangers When We Meet DVD remains an excellent domestic American Drama from 1960.
