James Cromwell and Tantoo Cardinal star in and give great performances in this heartfelt drama of early 20th century rural America where a boy must learn two works while becoming a man. Powerful emotions and storytelling are ion every frame of this fascinating drama. The Smoky Mountains of Tennessee are a beautiful and rugged backdrop for this story of a Cherokee boy, played to perfection by Joseph Ashton, being sent to live with his grandparents after his parents pass away. Filled with gorgeous landscapes and a fascinating story.
All the performances are really outstanding in this film. The journey this film takes is amazing and the storytelling is both subtle and powerful. This deserves a place in an serious film collector's collection.
