DVD Synopsis and information:
A story that is both true and heart wrenching. From
a real and authentic American tragedy, this is tale of thoughtless brutality and ice cold
blooded murder. Justice always plays in the mix. This movie covers a lot of emotional ground including, gripping and disturbing. Starring John Savage as
Det. Karl Francis Hettinger
and James Woods as
Gregory Ulas Powell. This film features a
stunning attention to detail, The Onion Field is so powerful, intriguing,
absorbing, and superbly acted. The Onion Field will have you riveted to your seat from
beginning to end.
The story is based on an incident from March 9, 1963, Los Angeles Police Department officers Karl Hettinger, played by John Savage, and Ian Campbell, played by Ted Danson, pull over a car for making an
illegal U turn and then find themselves held at gunpoint by two seasoned
armed robbers. The two cops are then forced to give up their side arms and drive the car to a deserted
road, both of these officers now face the terror of becoming helpless victims in a execution style homicide but only one may able to escape into the bleak darkness of an
onion field.
